The modern-day smartphone has become more than just a communication tool, with many people in the world using it as a fashion accessory also. Smartphone users purchase cases to match items of clothing and add gems and diamonds onto branded mobiles, all in an attempt to blend both design and functionality successfully.
For wealthy individuals who have a bigger budget to spend on a smartphone device than the average user, they’re able to purchase mobiles that are on a completely different level to what the average phone shop would sell to its regular, everyday customers. In fact, it’s bordering on insanity when assessing some of the modern-day smartphones the rich and famous are purchasing these days.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at five of the most expensive smartphones in the world right now.
iPhone 3G King’s Button – $2.5 million
This dramatically improved iPhone is worth a staggering $2.5 million, largely down to its King’s Button, which is essentially a replacement for the home button, and is a mix of yellow, white and rose gold, all of which is 18 karat. Adding even more value, though, is the phone’s 138 diamonds which run along the border of the device and make this particular smartphone stand out from a very packed crowd.
Goldstriker iPhone 3GS Supreme – $3.2 million
An immaculate iPhone by British designer Stuart Hughes, the Goldstriker iPhone 3GS Supreme features 22 karat gold, 136 diamonds studded around the edge of the device, and an additional 53 diamonds that help form the shape of the instantly recognisable Apple logo. The phone is powerful enough and capable of showcasing the best movies and the top casino games for high rollers, like the 777 Royal Wheel slot game, but its additional bling makes it an even more powerful product all-round. The home button has even been replaced with a 7.1 carat diamond, too.
iPhone 4 Diamond Rose Edition – $8 million
Worth an astonishing $8 million, the iPhone 4 Diamond Rose Edition is – as the name suggests – filled with diamonds. To be specific, the phone has 500 diamonds at a total of 100 carats, plus 53 diamonds on the Apple logo. Another smartphone with a bespoke design by Stuart Hughes has also replaced the typical home button with a pink diamond. When purchasing the phone, it even comes in a granite presentation box also.
iPhone 4S Elite Gold – $9.4 million
Yet another design by Stuart Hughes, the iPhone 4S Elite Gold is worth $9.4 million and is bursting full of diamonds, from the 500 around its edge to the 53 diamonds that help form its logo. It also features an 8.6 carat diamond which forms the home button and even comes with a spare 7.6 carat diamond in case you fancy mixing it up from time to time. Perhaps the most extravagant aspect of this particular design, though, is the device’s box which features platinum, alongside a whole host of other expensive gemstones, but also some polished pieces of Tyrannosaurus Rex bone.
Falcon Supernova iPhone 6 Pink Diamond – $48.5 million
The most expensive smartphone on the planet at the time of writing, the Falcon Supernova iPhone 6 Pink Diamond smashes the rest of the contenders out of the park after being valued at a humongous $48.5 million. What do you get for $48.5 million, you ask? A 24 karat gold exterior and a large pink diamond that has been beautifully embedded in the rear panel. The fact that this phone is so rare is what makes it so expensive, though.
